You deserve the opportunity to be actively involved in your healthcare, with a doctor who takes the time required to get to know you and your health concerns.  As an online naturopathic doctor, I strive to create an empowering doctor-patient relationship that involves you in decisions about your health and inspires you to create positive changes in your life! My goal is always to deliver proactive, science-based natural healthcare that combines the latest medical research with natural therapies that support your body and health.

Hi! I’m Dr. Kimberley O’Brien, ND

I work with you to identify and treat the underlying cause of your symptoms using science-based medical testing, natural medicine, and personalized nutrition.  I treat a wide variety of health conditions, but I have specific expertise in treating perimenopause, hormone imbalances, digestive disorders, and fatigue.  My approach is science-based, and it’s by identifying the root cause of your symptoms that I am able to create a safe, targeted, and effective natural treatment plan that enables you to feel your best as soon as possible. Although I reside in Nelson, BC I have a telemedicine-based naturopathic practice, which means that you can work with me virtually from anywhere within British Columbia!

As a naturopathic doctor I have 8 years of post-secondary education, which have earned me my “Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine” from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine and a “Bachelor of Science with Honours in Neuroscience” from the University of Alberta. I am also trained as a “Bowen Health Therapist”, and I have completed additional training to receive my pharmaceutical prescription rights within the province of British Columbia.

In addition to my practice in Nelson I serve as the naturopathic doctor for Mountain Trek, an internationally acclaimed and award-winning health and fitness retreat in Ainsworth, BC. Previously, I instructed the pharmacology program at the Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Calgary. Now, I continue to share my expertise in health and natural medicine through workshop and seminar offerings as a professional speaker, as well as through my online programs.

A healthy body and mind provides us with the ability to live a passionate, adventurous life in which we are able to do and experience all of the things that we love. This is what drives me to maintain my own health practices, and inspires me to help you to do the same!

Meet Dr. Meghan Fowler, ND

Dr. Fowler supports you in creating a sustainable and individualized natural health plan that builds forward momentum towards achieving your health goals, while also suiting your lifestyle. As an online naturopathic doctor she has a clinical focus on digestive disorders, mens health, and metabolic optimization. Dr. Fowler works with patients across British Columbia via a virtual telemedicine-based practice.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Fowler will take the time required to fully review your health history and to better understand your goals in working with her as your naturopathic doctor. She will then work with you to create a comprehensive natural treatment plan that addresses the root cause of your symptoms, and helps you to feel like your best self again!

Dr. Fowler completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at MacEwan University before attending the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition to obtain her “Holistic Nutrition Certificate”. She went on to complete her 4-year “Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine” in New Westminster at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (Boucher Campus). She has certifications in IV therapy, acupuncture, and prescriptive authority.

Dr. Fowler has mentored extensively with Dr. O’Brien, and in addition to her own clinical expertise she regularly navigates patients through Dr. O’Brien’s online programs and clinical protocols. When she’s not in the office, you’ll find Dr. Fowler enjoying yoga or a spin class, hiking through our beautiful BC mountains, or taking an invigorating cold plunge in the ocean.

What to Expect During your Appointment

We have a fully virtual online naturopathic practice, meaning that you can work with Dr. O’Brien or with Dr. Fowler easily from anywhere within British Columbia.  Our appointments are conducted via a secure telemedicine platform that’s simple for you to join from a laptop or mobile phone, whether that be from your home or office.  You will receive a link by email to join your video-based call prior to your appointment time, and meeting this way feels just like being face-to-face!

During your initial consultation you will spend 60-minutes with Dr. O’Brien or with Dr. Fowler reviewing your symptoms, wellness goals, and health history.  You will be asked to complete a detailed intake form in advance of your appointment, and if you’ve had any recent lab testing we encourage that you please provide us with a copy of those results for your doctor’s review. Laboratory testing may also be recommended as an optional part of your assessment to help your doctor to pinpoint the underlying cause of your symptoms.

The first-steps of your treatment plan will be discussed with you in your initial appointment, and your treatment plan will continue to be expanded upon during your follow up consultations.  Follow up visits are typically scheduled every 4-8 weeks until you have reached your health goals, allowing you time with your doctor to explore treatment progress and to address any questions or concerns.

A doctor-patient relationship is a partnership, and we welcome you to contact us to address any other questions that you may have or to schedule your initial appointment.

Options for Lab Testing

Lab testing is available as an optional tool that can help your doctor to pinpoint the underlying cause of your health concerns with more clarity.
